WE set sail from Punta Arenas Chile, at the southern tip of South America. Our voyage took us through the Drake Passage to Palmer Station, a United States base on the Antarctic Peninsula.

The ship was out to sea for 24 days. Navigating some of the roughest seas in the world, the Research Vessel Laurence M. Gould was be the first ship to cross the Drake Passage and dock at Palmer following the austral winter.
